The Chelsea Flower Show is nearly upon us and we hope to see as many of you there as possible. This annual celebration of colours, scents and styling is a firm fixture on the Heyland & Whittle calendar and one where we get the chance to meet our customers face-to-face at our very own stand.
Read on to find out why it’s our favourite time of year and how you could be coming along to the show as our guests.

A century of tradition
Chelsea Flower Show is over 100 years old, with the first edition of the event - then called the Great Spring Show - being held in 1913. Since its humble pre-war beginnings when there was just one marquee and a single Gold medal-winning garden, Chelsea now boasts hundreds of gardens and welcomes 168,000 visitors annually.
Three companies that exhibited at the original show all those years ago still attend Chelsea every year, so look out for McBean’s Orchids, Blackmore & Langdon and Kelways Plants. Among the gardens to get excited about in 2019 are the Wedgwood Garden, the Family Monsters Garden and the Harmonious Garden of Life.
The Kate effect
Tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show are expected to sell out within days - some two weeks earlier than last year - due to the Kate effect. The Duchess of Cambridge has designed a garden with landscape architects Andree Davies and Adam White and the Royal Horticultural Society especially for the show. The announcement of her Back to Nature Woodland Wilderness Garden saw an immediate increase in ticket sales.
Inspired by Chelsea
Every year we drink in the sights and smells of the Chelsea Flower Show, returning to Sussex bursting with inspiration for new products. As you browse our collection you will spot a number of floral scents, which would not be out of place in the gardens of Chelsea.
Take the fragrance of flowers with you wherever you go with one of our sumptuous Hand Creams, which are perfect for slipping into your handbag. Most notable is the Neroli and Rose Hand Cream, which will transport you straight back to Chelsea’s charming traditional gardens upon your very first sniff.
To close your eyes and lie back in an oasis of calm, enveloped in a delicious scent, try one of our Bath Melts. These ingenious little cakes of shea butter and cocoa butter will relax you to the core, leaving your skin moisturised and beautifully fragranced. Opt for the Cherry Blossom Bath Melt to be surrounded by the smell of these delicate blooms.
There is no shortage of Candles here at Heyland & Whittle to reflect the most diverse range of floral cents. You will be able to evoke all of your favourite Chelsea memories whether you plump for the White Dahlia Candle in a Glass, the Sweet Pea and Rose Candle in a Tin or the Strawberry Kitchen Garden Candle.
