We all experience some stress in our daily lives, with certain events often making that worse. While stress is a natural response, too much of it can be harmful. 

High stress levels can affect physical and mental health, especially if you find you are often anxious. As well as dealing with the source of your stress, there are things you can do on a daily basis to help you relax.

Simple changes or actions can really help you to relax, making you feel better and improving your overall health. Here are some great ways to enjoy a stress-free spring:

Five minutes of calm

Taking some time to just sit and relax, if only for five minutes, can really help. Giving yourself a few moments of calm where you don't have to be rushing around can make a huge difference.

Make yourself a cup of tea, watch one of your favourite shows, read a chapter of your book or just breathe deeply. So long as you are focusing on you and on being calm, you'll find that you feel a lot less stressed out.

It's a good idea to do this every day so you have a regular time in which you can unwind. This could be after work, before bed or even on your lunch break. It doesn't matter when or how long you relax for, just so long as you give yourself a break.

Exercise regularly

Sleep

Stress can lead to lack of sleep, which can then lead to more stress. Your body needs a good amount of rest each day as this is the time in which it repairs and rejuvenates itself. You also relax when you're sleeping, giving your mind and body a break.

Ensuring you get a good amount of sleep every night, rather than trying to catch up on the weekends, can leave you feeling refreshed and ready for anything. 

If you have trouble sleeping, try drinking chamomile tea before bed and cutting back on caffeinated drinks in the afternoon. You may also find that a room mist sprayed around your bedroom before you hit the hay can help to relax you and set you up for a good night's sleep.
