It's official: Hard soap bars are back in fashion

It's funny how trends go full circle, isn't it? This year marks 15 years since Heyland & Whittle was founded, when our product range included just ten hard Soap Bars. Since then, the range has grown beyond anything we ever imagined, incorporating Reed Diffusers, Candles, Body Scrubs and Liquid Washes, to name just a few.

But in this landmark 15th year, we're going back to basics and celebrating our origins, putting our handmade Soap Bars back in the spotlight once more.

We've noticed that our lovely customers are just as interested - if not more so than before - in our hard Soap Bars when we've been out and about at shows this summer, and we think we've got Sir David Attenborough to thank for that in part.

His recent reports on the damage that plastic is causing to the world around us have seen many of us change our ways to try to use as many natural and recyclable products as we can, and that's what we're all about at Heyland & Whittle.

Environmentally friendly

Our handmade Soap Bricks are not just kind to your purse, providing you with the equivalent of 14 Soap Bars for the price of just ten, but they're also kind to the environment, as they come wrapped in just a simple layer of recyclable greaseproof paper.

This means there's no waste that could potentially cause harm to the environment or wildlife, meaning you'll be doing your bit to protect the planet for the next generation by opting for one of our Soap Bricks, which are available in all kinds of fragrances, including Rose, Lavender, Tea Tree and Hemp & Walnut.

What's more, because the Soap Bricks last for so long, they very rarely need replacing, meaning there's even less waste to contend with.

Natural, often vegan, ingredients

We're going back to basics and celebrating our origins

Using only natural ingredients like essential oils, oatmeal, poppy seeds and natural colourings such as turmeric and madder root means that the production of our Soap Bars and Soap Bricks is also kind to the environment, with no harmful chemicals or fumes polluting the planet. This means you can be sure that you're purchasing an environmentally friendly product that will be kind to your skin thanks to all those natural moisturisers and exfoliants.

Several of our Soap Bars are also vegan, which we know is becoming important for a growing number of people. Our vegan-friendly Soap Bricks include the following gorgeous fragrances: Rose, Lavender, Tea Tree, Summer Solstice, Citrus Grove, Herbal Mint, Hemp & Walnut, Seaweed and Oatmeal & Spice.

With proper care, hard soap can last a long time

You can keep waste and your footprint on the planet to a minimum by making sure you look after your hard soap as best as possible. For example, keep your soap on a Wooden Soap Saver instead of on the damp side of your bath or shower.

This will help to keep it dry in between uses, locking in all of its skin-nourishing power for longer.

Remember, your soap will only care for your skin as long as you care for your soap, and there's no reason you can't do that without looking after the wider planet at the same time.
