Sunny June is here and after months of rain and cold, we're all looking forward to making the most of it. This means spending as much time outside, enjoying summer activities and, of course, packing our bags to head off on holiday.
Whether you're staying in the UK or hopping on a plane at some point this summer, you need to ensure you've got everything you could possibly need in your suitcase. However, you also don't want to overpack, which can leave you having to lug around loads of stuff you won't use.
Luckily, there are ways you can cut down on the number of beauty products you need to pack, which can save you a lot of space and weight in your suitcase.
Here are some of the must-haves when it comes to cosmetics that you should be sure to pack in your suitcase:
Shampoo and Conditioner
Holidays can play havoc with your hair. Between the sun, sea, swimming pool and humidity, your locks can be left feeling dry and grimy in no time.
While you can just put your hair up to keep it off your face and help you stay cool during the day, you still need to give it a bit of love to try and maintain its condition.
There are a few ways you can look after your hair and keep it looking and feeling fabulous - you can find some ideas in our haircare blog - but the easiest way to go about it while on holiday is with a good quality shampoo and conditioner.
Our Greentea and Grapefruit Shampoo and Conditioner are the perfect choices at any time, let alone for your holiday. The shampoo is gently cleansing, helping to remove product build-up, swimming pool chemicals and salt from the sea to leave your hair feeling clean and fresh.
The conditioner is chock full of panthenol, which helps to soften and thicken your hair while also improving its overall condition.
You can find a mini, travel-friendly bottle of each in our handy Luxury Travel Wash Set.
One of the easiest ways to ensure you're packing light is to choose products that can be used for several things. This is where our traditional soaps come in.
Unlike many solid soaps, you can actually use our soaps on your face as well as your body. This is because they don't contain ingredients - such as foaming agents like SLS or parabens - that can actually dry the skin on your face.
Our traditional soaps use a range of natural oils and a traditional method of manufacture - which you can learn about here - that ensures they are fantastic for facial cleansing and for use on your body. This means you don't need to pack separate shower gels or facial washes, saving you space.
You can even get different soaps depending on the requirements of your skin, just as you would with face washes. If you have troubled skin that needs a good, deep cleanse, you might want to try out Tea Tree Soap, while our Seaweed Soap Bar is ideal for those who have dry problem skin.
An ideal soap for men, especially if they have dry skin, is our Hemp and Walnut Soap, as it can also be used as an effective shaving soap. Hemp is brilliant at moisturising and healing the skin, which can help avoid shaving rash on holiday.
It doesn't matter if you're in the UK or abroad, if the sun is shining, you need to protect your skin. Sun cream is arguably one of the most important cosmetic products to go in your suitcase, as it will protect you against sunburn and health issues - such as skin cancer.
You need to make sure you have enough sun cream to last for your whole holiday, bearing in mind the fact that you will need to reapply it several times throughout each day. In fact, it is a good idea to have more than you think you'll need, just in case.
Be sure to pack high SPF varieties - SPF25 and over - for the best level of protection. This should be even higher - around SPF50 - if you have children, as their skin is a lot more sensitive and can burn more easily.
As well as sun cream, you can soothe your skin after a day in the sun with a body lotion. Our body lotions come in a range of beautiful fragrances, so you're sure to find the perfect scent for you.
They contain a number of moisturising oils that soften and smoothe the skin, while vitamin E helps with skin repair, which is perfect if you do get a bit burnt.
If you're after a good tan while on holiday, using a body lotion every evening can help to prolong it by improving the condition and moisture of your skin. This means you'll still have your golden glow when you get back to work.
You'll find a mini bottle of our beautiful Rose and Neroli Body Lotion in the travel set as well as our shampoo, conditioner and a couple of shower gels, making it a great option for your suitcase.
