There's been a definite chill in the air over the past few weeks and it's only going to get colder as autumn turns into winter. If you feel like it's a crime to turn your heating on before October and it's a little too early for gloves just yet, your hands will be bearing the brunt of the chilly weather.
Even when you do finally dig out last year's gloves, you're likely to take them off occasionally to use your phone or rummage in your bag for your keys, meaning your hands will still be exposed to the elements. All of this can leave them feeling dry, cracked and sore, which can cause them to look pretty unsightly too.
Caring for your hands is more important during the colder months than at other times of year, as the frosty weather can be very harsh to them. This means you need to make sure you're giving them plenty of TLC throughout these seasons to keep them feeling and looking beautifully smooth.
Exfoliate for smoothness
If your hands have been left cracked and flaky from the chilly weather, you'll need to get rid of any unsightly dead skin. Using an exfoliator that contains natural ingredients, like our Greentea & Grapefruit Body Scrub will help to remove dead skin cells and leave your hands feeling lovely and smooth. It contains naturally abrasive salt granules so won't be as harsh on your sensitive hands as the chemicals found in some products, and it'll leave your hands smelling gorgeous too.
Keep your hands moisturised, wherever you are
You should only need to exfoliate your hands once a week or so during autumn and winter, but make sure you are moisturising your hands a few times a day. At a minimum, use a hand lotion first thing in the morning and before you go to bed at night. Using one at night will help to protect your hands from the cold while you're asleep, with a soothing scent like our Citrus & Lavender Hand Lotion helping you to relax and get a good night's sleep too.
Keep a hand lotion by your bathroom and kitchen sinks too so you can apply some every time you wash your hands, and pop one of our mini hand creams in your bag so you're never caught out with dry, cracked hands while you're out and about.
Hands are said to be one of the biggest factors that can give away someone's age, so spend a little time looking after yours each day and they'll keep you looking and feeling younger for longer.
