When it comes to looking after your skin, you know it's important but you're probably still skipping a few steps. We all do it, whether it's because we're busy, tired or just feeling a bit lazy, our skincare routine suffers every now and then.
While it may not seem like a particularly big deal, the smallest disruption can cause a lot of effects, including sensitivity, redness, spots or clogged pores. This means that going to bed with your makeup on one Friday night could cause issues for the next week.
To help you keep your skin looking and feeling its best, here are some skincare tips you probably aren't using all the time, but that you definitely should be:
Simply removing your makeup isn't enough to really clean your face and you'll probably be left with traces of dirt or makeup on your skin. After using your face wipes or makeup remover, wash your face properly with one of our traditional soaps or a gentle face wash. This will ensure it is fully cleansed without stripping it of too many natural oils.
Many of us exfoliate too hard, which can be damaging to our skin. We also tend to exfoliate too often, which is just as bad. Rather than scrubbing your skin every day and as hard as you can, only exfoliate up to two evenings a week. You should also exfoliate gently for a longer period of time, rather than scrubbing hard and fast.
This is one of the most important things you need to remember when it comes to skincare. You should ensure that your skin is protected from the sun every day, no matter what time of year it is. Use a moisturiser with added SPF or mix some sunscreen with your face cream. For added protection, choose makeup that also contains SPF.
Drink enough water
Not only is staying hydrated good for your overall health, water is also vital for your skin. Drinking water throughout the day helps to keep your skin hydrated, flush out toxins and ensure your complexion looks as bright as possible.
