Customers are becoming more and more ethically conscious. A growing number of people want to shop with companies with a sense of corporate social responsibility, and there's a big focus on British-made, handmade, Fairtrade, plastic-free and vegan products at the moment.
Handmade in Britain
At Heyland & Whittle, we're extremely proud to fit into several of these categories, priding ourselves on being a small, family-run British business.

We make and pack all of our products by hand at our factory in Crawley, West Sussex.
Many of our products are vegan-friendly
Manufacturing cruelty-free products is especially important to us, and we're proud that so many of our handmade Soap Bars and Soap Bricks are suitable for vegans to use. A few do contain goat's milk, but we take steps to ensure this is ethically sourced, as we want everyone to enjoy using our products.
Our gorgeous handmade scented Candles are made from a soy wax blend, rather than beeswax, again meaning they are vegetarian and vegan-friendly.
We're conscious about our plastic use
We try to use as little plastic as possible in the packaging for our products, with our Soap Bricks simply wrapped in a recyclable sheet of greaseproof paper to keep them protected in transit, and our Reed Diffusers packaged in recyclable cardboard boxes.

You may have noticed that our Hand Washes and Body Washes are packaged in plastic bottles, but we make sure that we always use high-quality PET (polyethylene terephthalate). There is evidence showing that this type of material is completely safe to use, and it's recyclable. You can read more about this in our blog here.
