June is just around the corner, which means that the real summer season will be here before you know it. While the chances are you'll want to spend as much time outside as possible when it is sunny, you should still ensure your house is ready for the warmer season.
This will make it more comfortable when you do need to stay inside and freshen up your house after winter and spring. Here are some great ways to get your home ready for summer in no time:
Clean your windows
One of the best things about summer is how much lighter the days are. Sunlight streaming through your windows can make your home seem brighter and cleaner, so it pays to make sure your windows are nice and clean.
Grimy windows are more obvious when the weather is good so give them a good wash inside and out to leave the glass gleaming. You'll then be able to keep them clean throughout the summer with a quick wipe down every week or so.
Swap heavy curtains for lighter styles
We use heavy curtains in winter to help keep heat in at night, but they can make a room feel stuffy and overheated during the summer. This is why it is a good idea to swap your winter curtains for lighter styles.
As well as being practical, changing your curtains can change the feel of your home without you needing to do any DIY. When winter rolls around again, you can simply get your winter curtains out of storage and pop your summer ones away.
Choose fresh scents
One of the easiest ways to make your home feel summery is to add clean and fresh scents to rooms. Citrus or floral fragrances are perfect for this season, especially as they aren't too heavy when the weather gets hot.
You can make your home smell fresher with our Wild Lemongrass fragrance. Add a burst of fragrance with our room mist or keep the scent going with a reed diffuser, which will last the whole season.
Alternatively, combine the subtle floral scent of the orient with warm vanilla by opting for our Cherry Blossom fragrance. This is perfect for summer evenings, so why not try one of our candles?
Clean your carpets
One part of your house that often gets neglected, which can affect how rooms feel, is your carpet.
The chances are that your carpets have gathered dirt and dust throughout winter, which can make your home feel a bit stuffy. While vacuuming gets rid of some of this, it takes a really deep clean to get your carpets feeling fresh.
Give your carpets a clean and enjoy the difference it makes. The same goes for rugs, which should be cleaned outside to avoid releasing lots of dust.
Add fresh flowers
A really simple way to make your home feel more summery is to display fresh flowers. This will add a touch of summer colour to your home and the smell with complement your floral fragrances perfectly.
You can also add flowering plants to your rooms, which are ideal if you have green fingers as you'll be able to enjoy them year after year.
