One of the best parts of the summer season is being able to spend more time out in your garden. This means getting people together to enjoy the sunshine, and good company is a great idea.
Whether you want to have a big party or just a small gathering, there are things you can do to ensure you have the best possible outdoor party.
Here are some of our best tips for creating a great party atmosphere and enjoying the sunshine this summer:
Make a clear party space
It is a good idea to create a clear space for the party to take place in so people know where to congregate. Not only will this help people to feel comfortable at the event, it will also stop them walking over areas of your garden you'd rather they not.
Set up your table and plenty of seating in your chosen area as this will be the centre for your party. It is also a good idea to set up some form of shade so it doesn't get too hot and people can avoid sunburn.
Keep the bugs away
Once you have your party area, you will want to keep any bugs and insects away, especially if you're serving food. Avoid using chemical insect repellents as these can end up on food and may cause skin irritation.
Instead, light one of our Citronella Outdoor Candles. Not only does this candle smell amazing, it will keep bugs away and is clean burning, so you won't have to deal with black soot while enjoying your party.
Just be sure to pop it somewhere it won't get knocked over and where little fingers can't touch it.
Fill a cooler
There's nothing worse than having to leave your guests every few minutes to get cold drinks for everyone or to have them traipsing in and out of the house. This is why it is a good idea to stock a cooler with everyone's favourite beverages and pop it outside to they can help themselves.
You can even fill two coolers, so there is one for the children and another for the adults. Then all you need to do is check the coolers every couple of hours and fill them with more drinks straight from your fridge.
Prepare a buffet
The easiest way to keep everyone happy when it comes to food is to create a cold buffet. This allows you to prepare everything in advance and then you can just cover the dishes and lay them out so everyone can help themselves.
You could make it simpler still and ask everyone to bring a specific dish, which will leave you with less to do. This also means you won't be left with all the washing up!
A party isn't a party without music, so create the ideal atmosphere for your event by making a playlist. The music you choose gives people a good idea of what sort of party you're hosting - such as whether it is a dance party or something more sedate - so choose it carefully.
Make sure your sound system isn't set up too close to your party area and that it isn't too loud or it will make it hard to have conversations.
