The problem with New Year’s resolutions is that they tend to focus on the negative feelings we have about ourselves. And when we fail to stick to them by mid-March, we feel even worse about our bodies or our lack of commitment to changing them.
Instead of looking at the things we don’t like, it’s better to centre our resolutions around the good stuff. Do more of that and things are bound to look up and be much brighter in the long run. So, here are some rules for resolutions to help you love yourself this January.

Make time for yourself
Many of the things we resolve to correct at the beginning of the year are the result of not making enough time for ourselves. Instead of focusing on trying to lose weight, think about the exercise you like to do and find a way to fit it into your life.
Losing a few pounds may be a happy side effect, but if you’re doing it for the endorphin rush and a little time away from your other commitments, you’ll feel all the better for it. In a similar way, eating more healthily will improve your mood and energy levels, so don’t think of it as a diet, but a better lifestyle.
Don’t feel guilty about a little luxury
It’s easy to justify premium products when we’re buying for other people, but it’s common to feel guilty when purchasing things for ourselves. After working hard, everyone deserves a treat, so why not make it a resolution to buy one thing you really want each month, instead of several small things?
You could spend your treat a month building up a collection of items all in the same scent. This will enable you to layer them up and make the fragrance last longer. For example, why not use the Greentea & Grapefruit Body Scrub in the bath, before smothering yourself in the Greentea & Grapefruit Body Lotion?
You can even pop a Hand Cream in the same scent into your handbag for a top up later on in the day. It will be impossible not to love yourself when you smell so sumptuous and co-ordinated, whether you’re out with friends or heading to work.

Love your space
Our homes are important spaces, where we spend a lot of time, but as you were trying to squeeze the box of Christmas decorations back into the cupboard, you probably thought about needing a bigger one. For most people, this is unlikely to happen, so it’s important to make the most of the space you’ve got.
If your resolution is to declutter, then help to motivate yourself with rewards. If you manage to fill X number of boxes to go to the charity shop from a certain room, then you can buy a White Dahlia Candle in a Glass to help you enjoy the newfound space. A Cherry Blossom Reed Diffuser will help to prevent you from letting that shelf get messy all over again.
