Evenings are finally getting lighter and days are starting to get warmer now that spring is here, so it's time to pack away all those things that make you feel cosy when it's cold, right?
While it's probably a good idea to switch your winter curtains for some lighter ones and remove the extra blankets from your bed, you don't need to get rid of everything that makes you think of winter.
Many of us use candles throughout the colder months as they make a room look and feel warmer and more comfortable, but many stop using them so much during spring, which means you miss out on their benefits.
We'll go so far as to say that spring is the perfect time to get the most out of your candles and really enjoy the atmosphere they create. Here's why:
Help you transition from day to night
The evenings get darker later on now and they seem to fade fairly slowly, which can mean you end up turning lights on when you don't really need to. However, lighting candles makes it easier to transition from day to night, especially as they provide extra light as the sun is starting to go so you don't need to turn all your lights on.
There's nothing more relaxing than a few flickering candles on a spring evening, so fully make the most of the subtle lighting effect.
Freshen up your home
One of the best things about spring is all the fresh scents in the air. From blooming flowers to just cut grass, spring smells great when you step outside. Candles help you bring a bit of this in, whether you love fresh or floral fragrances, helping your home to feel like spring, as well as outdoors.
Help you fall asleep better
As evenings get lighter, it can be difficult to adjust and switch off when you need to in order to get a good night's sleep. The soft, flickering light of candles actually helps your mind and body to relax so you're better able to drift off.
Lighting a candle in the evenings, even if it is still fairly light outside, will set you up for a restful night so you can make the most of the season.
