3 simple steps to a good skincare routine

3 simple steps to a good skincare routine

From face masks containing charcoal to vinegar baths, new skincare fads are always cropping up. Before you know it, your bathroom cabinet is overflowing with products and your poor skin doesn't know what's going on with so many different lotions, potions and even foodstuffs being applied to it.

A good skincare routine should be something that you carry with you throughout your life. Of course, you can change up the products you use, but stick with these three core steps for smooth, glowing, healthy-looking skin.

1. Cleanse

Cleansing the skin should be the first step of any good skincare routine. An effective cleanser shouldn't strip your skin, so make sure you pick one that is made from natural ingredients and is as nourishing as possible.

Citrus fruits have natural cleansing properties, so try our Citrus & Lavender Body Wash, which also has antioxidant properties, or our Wild Lemongrass Body Wash for a soothing cleansing wash that will retain your skin's moisture as well.

2. Moisturise

A good skincare routine should be something that you carry with you throughout your life

Our Traditional Soaps and Body Washes are all designed to moisturise as well as cleanse your skin, but following up with a lotion to keep that moisture locked in will keep it looking and feeling smooth for longer, preventing it from becoming dry and wrinkled.

Green tea has been shown to slow down the signs of ageing, so as well as trying to drink a cup of this each day, use our Greentea & Grapefruit Body Lotion after you've towel-dried your skin. It also contains almond oil for extra nourishment and natural vitamin E, which has moisture-restoring properties.

3. Exfoliate

You should really exfoliate before cleansing, but you don't need to do it as regularly as cleansing and moisturising, which is why we've included it as our third and final step.

Try to exfoliate once a week to remove the dirt and oil that has built up in your pores. Be mindful that some exfoliators can be harsh on the skin and strip it of its natural oils due to the chemicals that they contain, so look for ones featuring ingredients that are naturally abrasive instead. It's essential to always moisturise after exfoliating, even when using one with natural ingredients.

All of our Body Scrubs contain salt granules to naturally exfoliate your skin, but you can make your skincare routine even more simple by combining this stage with cleansing your skin. Use our Oatmeal and Spice Soap, which features naturally exfoliating poppy seeds, to combine the processes and save yourself time in the mornings - as well as precious bathroom cabinet space!
