Exfoliate and moisturise like a pro

Exfoliate and moisturise like a pro

Ask anyone with good skin what their secret is and you may get a whole variety of answers, but two of the most commonly cited are exfoliation and moisturisation. Combined, these two techniques strip away the bad things stopping your skin from glowing and replace them with beautiful ingredients that will make you look radiant.

Why exfoliate?

Exfoliating means helping your skin to get rid of the dead skin cells that can sit on top of it and make it look dull. Your body naturally sheds this top layer of skin around every 30 days, but speeding this up means your skin will look brighter and there won’t be dry patches or clogged pores where some of the cells have been left behind.

How often should I exfoliate?

While there are many benefits to exfoliating your skin, it’s important not to do it too often. Twice to three times a week is the sweet spot and if you keep up this routine, before long you’ll notice the difference.

What exfoliating products should I use?

If there’s just two things your skin is crying out for after the long, hot summer, it’s exfoliation and moisture. Find out how to do it right with Heyland & Whittle.

The best products for exfoliating your skin offer a carefully balanced combination of abrasive elements and soothing ingredients to gently lift dead cells away. Heyland & Whittle’s Luxurious Body Scrubs use salt granules and bamboo to rub against the skin, leaving it bright and smooth. We never use plastic microbeads as part of our commitment to the environment.

Depending on which Scrub you go for, the soothing ingredients are then complemented with a delicious fragrance. This could be calming rose, which is perfect if you’re exfoliating during your nighttime bath; or it might be zesty grapefruit if you’re sloughing off your skin cells at the beginning of a busy day.

The importance of moisturising

Once you’ve exfoliated it’s important to use a good moisturiser to prevent dry skin and form a protective barrier of moisture in the new skin that’s just been revealed. This will not only keep harmful environmental factors out, but also those all important water particles in.

How to choose the perfect moisturiser

It’s easy to be seduced by tempting fragrances - and there’s a lot of those around here - but take the time to check out the ingredients that are going to have a lasting effect on your skin. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help to reduce damage done to the skin by UV rays, while glycerin and coconut hydrate and nourish to keep you looking dewy-faced for longer. Then it’s just a case of deciding between Earl Grey Hand & Body Lotion or Cherry Blossom… decisions decisions decisions…
